Obituary of Grace Hockenberry, 93

Grace Hazel (Bickle) Hockenberry, 93, of Bellefonte, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Centre Crest. She was born on January 20, 1921, in Stormstown, PA to the late Alonza L. Bickle and Edith M. Shank Bickle.

She grew up on the Bickle farm and attended the State College schools. She remained in the local area where she met her husband, Melvin, and started their family. They settled in Bellefonte and enjoyed living in their own home where she loved working in her beautiful flower gardens. Grace enjoyed traveling with her late husband to different states and also to Canada. Her family was central in her life. She will be missed by all those who have known her.

Grace was the wife of the late Melvin R. Hockenberry who passed away June 1999. Surviving are her three sons, Rodney C. (Darlene) Hockenberry of Bellefonte, Darrell A. (Phyllis) Hockenberry of Fleming, PA, Melvin L. (Donna) Hockenberry of Julian, PA, and one daughter, Constance L. (Joseph) Subalusky of Bellefonte, PA. Also surviving are her eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, her husband, and a grandson, Grace was preceded in death by four brothers; Walter L. Bickle, Raymond L. Bickle, Harold A. Bickle, Russell M. Bickle, and three sisters; Mary V. Ishler, Pearl E. Zeigler, and Verna M. Henninger. Grace was the last of her generation.

Visitation, services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Grays Cemetery.
