Harold H. Waltz, 88, of State College, died Sunday, December 25, 2016, at the Hearthside Nursing Home, State College.

Born on January 11, 1928, in State College, he was a son of the late Fred William and Verna Mary (Hoy) Waltz. On April 2, 1950, in Las Vegas, NV, he married Patricia. (Summers) Waltz, who preceded him in death.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1946 after he graduated from the State College High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War. After completing his 5 year enlistment; he joined the PA Air National Guard from which he retired from in 1988. During his service with the 112th Air National Guard, he was deployed in 1961 for active duty in Germany during the Berlin Wall Crisis. During his service he was awarded:

Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Medal, Small Arms Expert Ribbon

Harold also served as a Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. He retired after 22 years of service.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Hollingsworth (Edgar) of Muncy, PA, Sue Ellen Waltz of Spartanburg. SC; one son, Michael Waltz (Debra) of Shingletown, PA; one sister, Lois Stoner; six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving him is his companion, Thelma Horner.

In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801, the service will immediately follow with Mr. Nate Porter officiating. Burial will take place at Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
