Harry G. Glossner, Sr., 93, of Blanchard, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the same home he was born and lived in his entire life. Born on March 29, 1920, in Blanchard, he was the son of the late Sanford E. & Amy P. Boone Glossner. On November 22, 1944 in Lock Haven, he married Vivian R. Moore who survives at home.
Harry was a graduate from Blanchard High School. He was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ. He was a farmer all his life. He farmed the farm that was designated a Century Farm in 1993.
Harry was a Civil War enthusiast. He was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Civil War Roundtable, the Clinton County Civil War Roundtable, Thompsons Battery C Pennsylvania Artillery (a Civil War Reenactment group). He had formed the Bald Eagle Artillery, the first Civil War Reenactment unit in Central Pennsylvania.
Harry also enjoyed genealogy. He was a member of the Clinton County Genealogy Society and the Centre County Genealogy Society. He was a 4H leader. He served 12 years on the Liberty Township School Board and was the president of the Board when the Liberty Curtin Elementary School was built.
Harry was a member of the Woodman of the World Lodge 691, a director of the Beech Creek Heritage Museum and past president of the Blanchard Baptist Cemetery Association.
Harry is survived by his wife, son, Robert E. Glossner and his wife, Sandi, of Lady Lake, FL., one brother, William G. Glossner and his wife, Ruth, of Beech Creek. Also surviving are his four grandchildren; Michael Glossner of Blanchard, Scott Glossner of Howard, Alice Crook of Howard, and Steve Glossner of Portland, OR and six great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his son, Harry G. Glossner, Jr.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 6-8pm at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St. Howard. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 1pm at the funeral home with Larry Butler officiating. Burial will follow at the Blanchard Church of Christ Cemetery in Blanchard.
