Surrounded by his loving family, Harry “Jake” Brindle, Jr., formerly of Aaronsburg, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was 85. Born May 25, 1932 in Woodward, Jake was a son of the late Harry K. Brindle, Sr. and Mildred “Lamey” Brindle. He was a 1950 graduate of East Penns Valley High School. On June 15, 1952, Jake married the love of his life, Rose Marie Krape at Salem Lutheran Church in Aaronsburg. They would have celebrated 65 loving years together on June 15, 2017.

Jake is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; two sons, Kelly R. Brindle of Millmont and Kevin J. Brindle (Monica) of Centre Hall; three grandchildren, Colby and Maddison Brindle, and Kaitlyn Xanthopoulos; two step grandchildren, Joshua Casher, and Jessica Tressler. Also surviving are three step great grandchildren, Harlene, Julian, and Jayden, and last but not least, Max, Jake's favorite canine friend. Jake was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Auman and Mae Vonada.

Jake served his country from 1952-1954 in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon arriving home from the military, Jake was employed for 17 years as a barber at Davidson’s barber shop in State College. He then went to work at the DER as a forest ranger. Eventually Jake moved on to the PA DCNR where he worked as a supervisor of the park rangers at Poe Valley State Park. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, but most of all Jake enjoyed spending time with his family.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 30th from 1-2 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim, followed by the memorial service at 2 pm with Pastor Becky Horn officiating. Jake will be laid to rest in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Aaronsburg. Contributions in memory of Jake may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, PO Box 439, Millheim, PA 16854.
