Harry F. Swope, 95 formerly of Mill Hall, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Susque-View Home in Lock Haven. He was born on February 18, 1918, the son of the late Elmer and Neta Breon Swope. He married Virginia D. Fisher on February 23, 1941 who survives.

He was a graduate of Howard High School Class of 1936. Harry was a turbine operator for Hammermill for 42 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jacksonville.

He proudly served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps, serving in China, Burma and the India Theatre.

Harry enjoyed yard work.

He is survived by two daughters; Sandra Gallagher (Ron) of Mill Hall and Shirley Lingle (Richard) of Shamokin Dam. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son; Alvin Frederick Swope, two brothers and three sisters;

Services will be held Saturday, June 29, 201 at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 4135 Jacksonville Rd., Howard, with Chaplain Dennis Callahan officiating. Friends and family will be received 10:00 – 10:30 prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Jacksonville Cemetery with Military Rites at the graveside.
