Obituary of Helen Garman, 75

Helen P. Garman, 75, of Clarence, formerly of State College, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Born on June 23, 1940, in Clarence, she was the daughter of the late Michael A. and Anna M. Vangor Surovec, Sr.

Helen attended Bald Eagle Area High School. She was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Helen was employed as the Assistant Executive House Keeper for the Ramada Inn in State College, retiring after 35 years of service.

Helen enjoyed trips to the casinos, crossword puzzles, collecting music boxes and collecting dolls. She looked forward to reading the daily newspaper from front to back every day. Helen loved to decorate for Christmas, usually in a different theme every year. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with family and friends.

Helen is survived by two sisters, Kathryn Surovec of Clarence and Marie Schmidt of Dover DE, five brothers; John Surovec of Clarence, Michael Surovec, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Bellefonte, Andy Surovec and his wife, Kathy, of Bellefonte, David Surovec of Clarence, and Richard Surovec and his wife, Dorothy of Snow Shoe.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters; Ruth Gasper, Mildred Confer, Justine Miller, and Christine Surovec and one brother, Joseph Surovec.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 6-8pm, with a rosary service at 7:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11am at the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence with Father Mark R. Reid officiating. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarence.
