Obituary of Helen Marion Schuckman , 93

Helen M. (Zack) Schuckman, 93, formerly of West Hartford, CT and recently a resident of Brookline Village in State College, PA, died on Friday, September 28, 2013 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Helen was born in New Britain, CT on June 25, 1920 and was the youngest child of the late John and Mary (Andrzejczyk) Zack. She was married to Fred Arthur Schuckman (d. 1979) and had one daughter, Karen Lee Schuckman of Boalsburg, PA. Helen resided in West Hartford for most of her life where she was active in the community and worked as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant for several local businesses. Mrs. Schuckman is survived by her daughter, Karen; her granddaughters, Sarah Bish Waggoner of Durham, NC and Carla Federica Duran of Mooresville, NC; her son-in-law, Charles Mark Davis, his daughters, Chelseana Davis of Columbus, OH and Coral Giovacchini of Durham, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

A mass will be offered in her honor at the Church of Saint Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford, CT on October 13, 2013 at 8:30 am. The family will be holding a private celebration of Helen’s life in Boalsburg, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the Helen M Schuckman Memorial Fund, Pennsylvania State University, 1 Old Main, University Park, PA 16802. This fund will be used to create an endowment for the women’s gymnastics program in honor of the Schuckman family and as an expression of gratitude for the many blessings and benefits they received through their involvement with Penn State Gymnastics.
