Henry George Fiehler, Jr., 89, of State College, passed away at his daughter’s home, on Thursday, October 25, 2012. A son of the late Henry G. Fiehler, Sr. and Edith (Gill) Fiehler, he was born on May 23, 1923, in Philadelphia, PA. He was married to the former Ella Mae Weaver, who survives him.
Henry was a 1949 graduate of Penn State University. He worked for the Department of the Navy as an auditor, from were he retired.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a PFC with the Battery B 215th Field Artillery during the Battle of the Bulge from Dec. 1944 thru Jan. 1945. For his service he received the World War II Victory Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, the American Theater Medal, 1 Overseas Service Bar.
Henry is survived by three daughters; Connie Spencer and her husband Jim of Tuscon AZ, Gail Catalano of State College, Barbara Rickwood of Washington, DC, and one son, Melvin Fiehler and his wife Kathy of Tunersville, NJ. He is also survived by one sister, Edith Gavin, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Fiehler.
All services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
