Obituary of Henry J. Richers Sr., 83

Henry J. Richers Sr., 83, of Eagleville, formerly of Sharon Hill, passed from this life on July 23, 2010, at his home.

Henry, son of the late George J. and Martha Johnson Richers, was born on Dec. 5, 1926, in Elmira, N.Y. He was a graduate of Upper Darby High School and attended Pierce Community College and the University of Pennsylvania.

On Nov. 25, 1950, Henry married Dorice Becker. Mrs. Richers survives at their home in Eagleville. In addition to his wife, Henry is survived by three daughters, Gail Lindsey (Bill), Ginny Toth (Jim) and Connie Gryga (Alex); and by two sons, Henry Richers Jr. (Kathy) and Stephen Richers. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. During his lifetime, Henry worked as a computer programmer. He served his country in the U.S. Army, retiring after 20 years of service. Henry was a member of the American Legion Post 163 in Sharon Hill. He also formerly volunteered as a scout leader with the Holy Spirit Boy Scout Troop #221. Henry enjoyed collecting model railroad items.

Friends and family will be received at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home in Howard on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, from 12 noon-2 p.m. Funeral services will follow immediately at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert Maurer officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Zion, Pa. Honor guard will be provided by Milesburg American Legion.
