Hildegard R. DeArmitt December 24, 1936 – June 19, 2009 Hildegard R. DeArmitt, 72, of Julian, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009, at her home. Born Dec. 24, 1936, in Berlin, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eric Kuhn. On Oct. 10, 1956, in Germany, she married Robert DeArmitt, who preceded her in death.

Hilde was a homemaker and attended school in Germany. She was a member of the Pine Grove Mills Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Hilde loved making German food for her kids. She loved watching QVC and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved bingo, yard sales and gardening. She is survived by her children, Petra Sengpiel (Frantz), of Germany, Veronika Billett (Lawrence), of Bellefonte, Robert DeArmitt (Judy), of Stormstown, and William "Ben" DeArmitt (Penny), of Pennsylvania Furnace; a son-in-law, Harry Poorman, of Howard; two sisters, Helga Schiele, of Germany, and Babel Newburg, of California; and a brother, Klaus Kuhn, of Germany. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and her dog, Jumper. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Poorman. Hilde received her citizenship from John F. Kennedy in 1961.

There will be a public visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tyson Ferguson officiating. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family, at Centre County Memorial Park, College Township.
