Homer N. “Kib” Rhodes, Jr., 67, of Boalsburg, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.

Born July 2, 1946 in Altoona, PA, he was the son of the late Homer N. Rhodes, Sr. and Reba Burket Rhodes. On June 7, 1986 Homer married Helen Prebihilo in Tyrone. He is survived by his wife, Helen Rhodes; children, Rebecca Rhodes Durgin and husband, Nelson of Lamoine, ME, Mary Pietrowicz Sweeney of State College, and Michelle Pietrowicz Humphreys and husband, Michael of Topeka, KS; sister, Patricia Gardner and husband, Richard of Tyrone; and 8 grandchildren: Michael, Kaylene, Hannah, Andrew, Mikayla, Adriana, Aaron, and Jonathan.

Homer is preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Rhodes and brother, Michael Rhodes.

He graduated from Tyrone High School in 1964 and received a Bachelor of Science at Grove City in Electrical Engineering in 1968. Homer served as a captain in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, piloting B52’s. He worked as a program manager for Raytheon, State College.

Homer was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Boalsburg, and served on the church council. He was also a member of Boalsburg Lions Club and the State College Radio Control Aircraft Club, where he built and flew radio controlled model airplanes.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 6 to 8p.m. at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Boalsburg, with the Rev. Brent Brook officiating.

Burial will be in Blair Memorial Park following the service.
