Obituary of Ira Young, 95

Ira H. Young, 95, of rural Howard, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Bucktail Medical Center, Renovo.
He was born March 9, 1918 in Kato, Snow Shoe Township, a son of the late Irvin and Mary C. Switzer Young. He was married to the former Helen G. Brown, who preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2001.
He was a supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Ira was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was of the Protestant faith. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and he also loved gardening. He is survived by a daughter, Thelma (Gerald) Lullo Jr. of rural Howard; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; his special nieces, Bonnie Gray and Phyllis Moore, and a special nephew, Harry Herr. In addition to his parents, Ira was preceded in death by six sisters, one brother and one stepbrother. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg. Pastor Dan Longmore will officiate. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Summit Hill Cemetery, Curtin Township, Centre County, where military honors will be accorded.
