On August 30, 2016, Irene Amick peacefully passed on in her home among loved ones. Irene was the eldest of three daughters born June 25, 1932 in Nazareth, Pennsylvania to John Hamel and Theresa Kuller. She is survived by her partner of 31 years, Dick Wolf; her daughters, Micki Amick and Molly Amick; her grandchildren, Madeleine Amick-Kehoe and Atticus Amick-Stites; her youngest sister, Nancy Kardelis and her family; the Nealon family of her deceased sister, Dottie Nealon and former husband, Carl Roger Amick.

After graduating high school in Nazareth, PA, she attended St. Luke's School of Nursing, earning her RN degree in 1953. Her nursing career spanned 43 years and included employment with Bethlehem Visiting Nurses Association and the Brooklyn Veterans Administration Hospital in New York City. While raising her family in State College, she worked in the private office of Dr. Reed Babcock in Bellefonte and later returned to her favorite field of public health, working as a visiting nurse for Centre Home Care from 1979 to 1996. For two decades, she was an active member of the Graduate Nurses Club and participated in the Harvard Medical School Nurses Health Study.

A world traveler, she and Wolf camped and hiked the U.S., toured Europe and wintered in Florida and Arizona. They shared passions for dancing, social events and family gatherings. Creative throughout her life, Irene left a trove of paintings, baskets, painted gourds, and other artisitic projects. She had a great affection for antiques, especially for blue glass and china she used for holiday dinners. A nature lover, she gardened, bird watched, collected shells, and enjoyed animals, especially her red tabby cat, Max. She was an avid cook, swimmer, card player and collector of coins and stamps.

Her enduring optimism, outgoing nature and commitment to family and friends will be greatly missed.
We love you Irene.
