Irvin L. McClain Sr., 71 of Howard, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Hershey Medical Center. He was born on June 8, 1941, the son of the late Charles and Florence Miller McClain.

On July 12, 1974, he married Martha Stover McClain. They just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. She survives at home.

He was a 1959 graduate of Walker Twp. High School. On July 12, 1974, he married Martha Stover McClain, they had just celebrated their 38th anniversary.

Irvin was employed by Corning Glass for 25 years and was also a self-employed tractor mechanic. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Snydertown.

He was a member of several machinery associations and served as board member and president with several antique associations, The Loyalsock Antique Machinery Association and Post president and middle creek antique show chairman of tractor pull, Nittany Antique Association, past board members and chairman of tractor pull, Buffalo Valley Antique Association and member of the LaFayette Lodge 0199 of the Free and Accepted Masons.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating and tractor pulls.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lisa (Kent) Miller; three sons, Kent (Laura Thorpe), Douglas (Beth) and Irvin Jr. (Eileen); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one sister, Charlene Strouse; and two brothers, Charles and Donald McClain.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Ashley McClain.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 5, 2012 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard. Funeral will be Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mark Lutheran Church, 850 Snydertown Rd., Howard with the Rev. Ruth Kocha Jensen officiating. There will be an additional visitation one hour prior to the service at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Hublersburg Cemetery.
