Jack E. Bonsell, Sr., 79, of Port Matilda died July 24, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.

He was born December 14, 1937 in Tyrone the son of the late Clarence and Lavina (Foust) Bonsell.

On September 21, 2002 he married Tracy L. Holthouser who survives in Port Matilda. He was preceded in death by his first wife Juanita L. (Broome) Bonsell on January 16, 1996.

Jack was a Vietnam army veteran serving three consecutive terms of service.

He retired from the PA Fish and boat Commission as the District Maintenance Supervisor after 20 years of service. He was a life member of The Sportsman Assoc. of Port Matilda, a member of the American Legion in Tyrone and a former member of the Tyrone Elks. He loved fishing and hunting and was proud to be with the PA Fish and Boat Commission.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, Jack E. (Shirley) Bonsell, II, of Port Matilda and Allen H. (Lori) Bonsell of Houserville; and Jordan Bonsell at home; step-son, Jonathan Holthouser of Port Matilda; brother, George (Gloria) Bonsell of Bald Eagle; sister, Anna Potts of Tyrone; and six grandchildren, Derrick Bonsell of Port Matilda, Mark (Erin) Bonsell of Lock Haven, Nicole Bonsell of Port Matilda, Wade and Hope Bonsell of Houserville and Corbin Holthouser of Altoona.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie Zimmerman and Barb Reeder.

Friends will be received from 6-8 PM, Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College and Friday, July 28 from 11 AM until time of services at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, State College, with military honors in accord.
