James E. “Jim” Miller, 79, of Marsh Creek, departed this life with family by his side on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at his home.

He was born Nov. 16, 1935, a son of the late Howard and Loretta Meckley Miller.

On July 25, 2014, he and Rhoda “Sis” Miller celebrated 50 years of marriage. She survives at home.

Jim worked at and retired from the former Warner Co. – Bellefonte Lime, after 32 years of service.

He was a member of the Marsh Creek Brethren in Christ Church.

He served briefly in the U.S. Navy.

Jim was a member of Miller's 8 Camp of Marsh Creek. He loved hunting season and going to camp.

In his younger years, he grew up on a dairy farm in Marsh Creek. He played baseball for Howard and was a great left-handed pitcher. He followed Pirates and Cubs baseball and was a Steelers football fan.

His greatest pastime was driving around the Summit Hill Loop looking for wildlife and seeing family and friends along the way.

Jim is survived by a daughter, Tammy (Andy) Coakley of Marsh Creek; son Todd (Debbi) Miller of Marsh Creek; sisters Shirley (Walt) Richner of Marsh Creek, Sara Welch of Howard, Gail (Jim) Robb of Bellefonte, Arlene (Tom) Milton of Bellefonte and Mary Ann (Dick) Miller of Philipsburg; brothers Howard “June” Miller Jr. of Bellefonte, Dennis (Elaine) Miller of Blanchard and Gary Lee (Sherry) Miller of Marsh Creek.

He is also survived by three granddaughters, Abbie Coakley (Andy Miller) of Miles City, Mont., Brittany (Josh) Barner of Spring Mills, and Katrina Miller of Marsh Creek; grandson Jimmy Coakley, who was “Jim Buddy” to his pap; three great-granddaughters, Kaylee, Addie and Rilee Barner, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and paternal aunts.

A memorial service will be held in May 2015 and will be announced closer to the date.

Burial will take place in Brethren of Christ Church Cemetery, Marsh Creek.
