James T. “Jim” Lomartire, 70, of Zion, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 24, 2014. Born on May 22, 1944, in Flushing, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony F. & Martha Thayer Lomartire. On April 10, 1999, in Phoenixville, PA, he married Cathy S. Schultz, who survives at home.

Jim was a 1963 graduate of Concord High School in Concord, NH. After high school, Jim joined the US Navy, where he earned the rank of Gunners Mate 3. He was given an honorable discharge after four years of service. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Jim felt the desire to continue his military career so he joined the US Air Force, where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He had an honorable discharge after serving four years. For his years of service in the Air Force, he was awarded AFGCM, AFM 900-3, AFLSA w/10LC, AFM 900/3AFOUA, and AFP 900-2.

Jim was of the protestant faith, attending the Zion Community Church in Zion. He was a Corrections Officer for the New Hampshire Department of Corrections State Prison for Men for 20 years before retirement. He was also a police officer in Epson, NH, a Freight Conductor on the New England Southern Railroad in Concord, NH, an active Fire Fighter for 20 plus years in Epson, NH, also an active member of the Fire Police in Mont Clare, PA, Thorndale, PA, currently Walker Twp, PA.

Jim was an HO scale model train hobbyist, NRA Certified Instructor as well as a weapons collector and enthusiast. He enjoyed a wide variety of things and had many hobbies, but his greatest joy was spending time with his wife and children. He was a devoted husband and father.

Jim is survived by his wife, children; Alexander T. and Samantha L. Lomartire both at home, Kurt Lomartire, Kimberly Sanders and Kerry Lomartire all of NH, and stepson, Andrew Langford of PA. Also surviving is a brother, Robert Lomartire of NH, sister, Janet Lomartire and her husband, Gneal Widett of MA, mother in-law, Lois D. Schultz of Bellefonte, sister in-law Chriss A. Schultz and her husband Harvey W. Wall, brother in-law W. Charles Schultz, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his father in-law, William C. Schultz.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Zion Community Church, 3261 Zion Rd. Bellefonte, with Pastor Charlie Stump officiating. Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private.
