James L. Rimmey, 74, passed at his home on April 25, 2015. He was surrounded by his loving family and trusted canine companion Lady.

James was born August 6, 1940 to Charles and Louise Rimmey and lived his entire life in State College. He graduated from State College Area High School in 1958, was class president his senior year and remained very active and involved with his classmates and the alumni association. He retained and fostered many close friendships within his high school graduating class, getting together with several of his crew weekly as long as his health permitted.

Following high school James enlisted in the Navy, serving three years and traveling to Italy, Puerto Rico, and the Mediterranean during his years of service. Over the past six years he reconnected with some of the ship’s crew he served with and has enjoyed several yearly “ship’s reunions.”
Jim then attended the Pennsylvania State University, earning a BS in Accounting, while working at ARL, followed by the successful completion of the CPA license exam. He worked as an accountant for Middleman and Co. before joining the founders of Supelco, Walt Supina and Nick Pelick, in 1974. During his 21 years at Supelco, Jim was instrumental in the company’s growth and success, helping to establish Supelco as an international corporation. Over his career with Supelco he traveled frequently to Switzerland, Japan, England and Germany. His international travels greatly expanded his family’s cultural and culinary interests, including the perfection of a Swiss delicacy called Malakoff. Jim retired from Supelco in 1995.

James is survived by his wife of 52 years, June, son Tad Rimmey, son Chad Rimmey, all of State College, his daughter, Jill Rimmey of Grand Junction, Colorado, his sister Jackie Jamison of Ohio, granddaughter Brier Youngfleish of Grand Junction, Colorado, step-grandsons, Alex and Justin of Centre Hall and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Over his years Jim enjoyed golfing with friends, restoring old cars with the pinnacle of this hobby being the beautiful restoration of a 1940 Ford Pick-Up truck, as well as gardening and a later interest in cooking.

A visitation service will be held Tuesday, April 28th 2015 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home 1034 Benner Pike. A celebration of his life will be arranged at a later date over the summer. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers, to the American Heart Association, Wounded Warriors Survivor’s Project, Centre Hospice, or the Sight Loss Support Group of Central Pennsylvania.
