Janet C. Vogan, 81, died at her home in the Oaks at Pleasant Gap on Monday, June 17, after battling multiple sclerosis for more than forty years. She was born on March 28, 1932 in Grove City PA, a daughter of Mary Geibner Peden and David Stanton Peden. Janet and David A. Vogan were married on July 12, 1952, in Grove City.

A loving and gifted wife and mother, teacher, and musician, she was Valedictorian of her class at Grove City High School and represented her school in the Pennsylvania State High School Orchestra on two occasions. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bellefonte, where she served as a church school teacher, choir member and youth group leader, hosting a twice-monthly pre-school breakfast for high school youth. She was active
in the women's work of the church and Huntingdon Presbyterial.

Janet attended Westminster (PA) College, majoring in Elementary Education, but delayed her education to travel with her husband during his service in the US Army. She planned to finish her education at Lock Haven State University after her son Bill had completed his studies at the University of Pennsylvania, but illness made that impossible. She served as a Library Assistant in the Bellefonte Area Elementary Schools for several years before her retirement in 1991.

She is survived by her husband, by her sons David, Jr. (Lois Corman) of Arlington MA, and William (Janellen Farmer) of Valley Forge PA, by five grandchildren, Jonathan (Aparna Kumar), Sarah, Ian (Lairen), Allison, and Ryan, by her brother Richard, sisters Lois Mary Mossman and Ada Rose Mueller, sister-in-law Ruth Carr, by Jayne McCloskey who knew Janet as "Mom" for nearly fifty years, and by thirty-two nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Sylvia Story and Norma Walker Gras.

A celebration of Janet's life and faith will be held at a date to be announced by her family in the near future. A private burial will be at Hublersburg Cemetery.
