Janice M. Stover, 66, of Millheim, passed from this life on November 27, 2014 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, after a year-long battle with cancer. Born December 20, 1947, in Bellefonte, Janice is a daughter of the late Harry F. and Norma A. (Weber) Bowersox. She was a 1965 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School. She and Gary “Jake” Stover, whom she married on November 4, 1966, just celebrated their 48th anniversary.

Janice was first employed at the Penns Valley Pharmacy with 18+ years of service. She then moved to the Penns Valley Medical Center as a front desk receptionist. Both jobs suited her well because Janice was a people person. From the time she was seven years old she carried a child around on her hip. Therefore, at her places of employment, Janice enjoyed the people that came into the pharmacy and medical center. She interacted more so with the folks at the medical center where she would take care of the babies and young children while the parents were with the doctor. The older folks did not miss her attention either…..she gave hugs liberally. Janice was also known for her baking. She especially loved making desserts. She would not allow Jake to try them though, telling him they were for the office. When she was able, Janice enjoyed trips to the casino in Harrisburg. Most of all, Janice enjoyed time well spent with her husband, children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Janice is survived by two daughters; Neely Latham (Timothy) of Millheim and Gwendolyn Rocca (Paul) of Rebersburg; two grandchildren, Bree Musser (Richard, Jr.) and Dusti Latham, and two great grandchildren, Kyra and Tallen Latham. Also surviving are two sisters, Judy Swartz and Linda Crater (Jim) both of Rebersburg, and three brothers, Harold Bowersox (Donna) of Rebersburg, Harlan Bowersox also of Rebersburg and Marlan “Fat” Bowersox (Eunice) of Spring Mills. Janice was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley A. Wolfe and two brothers, Stewart and Eugene Bowersox.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 30th from 1-3 pm at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Rebersburg, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm with Rev. Valerie Delooze officiating. Janice will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim. In lieu of donations, flowers will be appreciated as Janice loved them.
