Jean Shaffer, 93, of Pleasant Gap, died on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at The Oaks, Pleasant Gap.

Born on June 18, 1922, in Terra Alta, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late A. Dayton and L. Edith Whitehair Bucklew. On June 22, 1943, she married Harvey E. Shaffer who preceded her in death on September 20, 2005.

She is survived by three daughters, Wilma J. Yannerella and her husband, Chuck, of Pickerington, OH, Carol S. Matlin and her husband, Paul, of Baltimore, MD and Linda S. Heller and her husband, Jan, of Poulsbo, WA; one sister, Eva Welch of Warren, OH; one sister-in-law, Dolores Bucklew of Tunnelton, West Virginia; six grandchildren, Christine Nadalin, Jessica Yannerella, Katie Dominquez, Dave Matlin, Dan Matlin and Abbey Heller; four great-grandchildren, Tony, Dominic and Sophia Nadalin and Emily Dominquez. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Wallace and two brothers, Donald and Clifford Bucklew.

She was a graduate of Kingwood High School in Preston County, West Virginia.

Jean was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church since 1946. She was also a member of the Friendship Class and the United Methodist Women.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 250 E. College Avenue, State College, with the Reverend Eric J. Shafer officiating.

Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
