Joan M. Klinikowski, 84, of State College, died late Tuesday afternoon, June 26, 2018 at Mount Nittany Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.

Born December 5, 1933 in Shamokin, to the late Joseph and Stella Shuck Genevish. She was proceeded in death by her husband Norman Klinikowski, who passed away in 2014.

Joan is survived by her three children, Norman Klinikowski and his wife, Marie, of Ephrata, Steven Klinikowski and his wife, Tammy, of Ledyard, CT and David Klinikowski of State College; nine grandchildren, Kristin, Candice, Kimberly, Sarah, Lydia, Olivia, Eric, Thomas, and Michelle.

Joan graduated from Saint Edwards High School in 1951 and continued her education at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Lancaster. While there and studying to become a Registered Nurse, Joan met Norman and the two married on September 5, 1959. Following graduation, Joan had a successful career working in various hospitals, most notably the Hill School in Pottstown. Joan retired after 25 years in order to devote time to care for her husband and their growing family.

Joan appreciated the friendship and compassionate assistance of many local caregivers. She enjoyed volunteering and loved to actively participate in her community. Joan loved being with her family and is remembered for her strength, compassion, and devotion to being a caretaker for her husband. She provided an immense sense of comfort and support to those around her and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was a member of Our Lady Of Victory Catholic Church where she also served as a greeter. She volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, State College.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Roman Catholic Mass will follow at 1 p.m., at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, with Father Antony Sudherson officiating.

Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery.
