With the same dignity and class that she carried with her all her life and surrounded by her loving family, Joan Lynn Confer passed from this life at her home after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born on May 23, 1930 in St. Charles, LA, Joan was a daughter of the late Pascal Lynn and Gladys Eckels Moore. In 1966, Joan married the love of her life, Glenn Confer, whom she adored. Glenn survives at their home in Rebersburg.

Joan is survived by one daughter Melissa Lynn Squires; two sons, Kenneth Carter Squires ( Kim) and Pascal Glenn Confer (Chris); five grandchildren, Alexis Lynn Dimsdale, Joshua Squires, Dylan Carter Squires, Logan Glenn Confer and Peyton Elizabeth Confer. Also surviving is one great grandchild, Delaney Lynn Fried and three nephews. Joan was preceded in death by one sister, Suzanne Hovsepian.

Joan enjoyed shopping and volunteered many years at the Recorder of Deeds office in Bellefonte where she loved meeting and talking with people. Joan was a loving mother who was respected and adored by all her children. She will always be remembered for all the advice that people welcomed and the "Mammy talks" that people asked for.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 1:00 -2:00 pm at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Spring Mills. The Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 with Rev. Michael Price officiating. In accordance with the family's wishes, Joan will be laid to rest at a later date.
