Joel Rodney Reed, 39, of Port Matilda, died on Monday, June 22, 2015 in State College.

Born January 7, 1976, at Chambersburg Hospital, he was the son of Jay R. and Joanie L. Plank Reed of McVeytown. On July 9, 2011, at the Penn State Arboretum he married the former

Deanne Cae Boonie who survives at home along with their 2 sons, Ethan Jay Reed and Holden Glenn Reed, both at home; also surviving, one sister, Julie M. Reed of McVeytown; his father- in-law and mother-in-law, Barry and Brenda Boonie of Warriors Mark; a brother–in–law

Justin Boonie and his wife Tiffany of Warriors Mark and one niece, Calgary Boonie of Warriors Mark.

Joel was a 1994 graduate of Mount Union High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Information Technology from Juniata College in 1998.

Joel worked at Penn State University; where he worked as an assistant manager in Information Technology of the Department of Educational Equity. He was the owner and operator of Xtreme Ridez LLC, a custom window tinting business.

Joel attended State College Alliance Church. He enjoyed shooting and collecting guns and was talented in customizing cars. Joel lived for his family, loved his boys and the way that they loved him. He valued his friendships and would do anything for anyone.

Friends will be received at the State College Alliance Church, 1221 W. Whitehall Rd, State College on Friday June 26, 2015 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., The funeral service will follow in the church at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Neil Breneman officiating.

Private burial will follow in Grays Cemetery.
