John Calvin Hillard, 79, of State College, died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1931, in Graysville, son to John Dennis and Iva Hope (McElwain) Hillard.
He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict for four years and later in the Navy for an additional eight years. He had worked for various apartment complexes in State College as maintenance manager and then at Corvette America from which he retired.
He is survived by three sons, John Hillard, of Maple Shade, N.J., Patrick Hillard, of Pennsylvania Furnace, and James Hillard, of State College; five grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Mae Parsons, of Tyrone and Mary Hope Decker, of State College; one brother, Ronald (Lee) Hillard, of Warriors Mark. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis Clifford, Norman Harrison, and James Franklin.
Friends will be received Friday, March 26, 2010, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark. Funeral service will be Friday, March 26, 2010, 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Susan Williamson officiating. Internment will be at the convenience of the family.
