John Francis “Jack” Meredith, 73, of State College, died on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born December 21, 1941 in Altoona, he was the son of the late William S. Meredith, Jr. and Magdalene Mathews Meredith. Jack married the former Wanda M. Ardry, of Nittany, on July 19, 1979, who survives at home.

Jack is also survived by his siblings, Janice Stoner and husband, Tom, of Reading, William “Bud” S. Meredith, III and wife, Virginia, of State College, and Linda Lettieri and husband, Frank, of Washington D.C.; numerous nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jack will be joining his beloved daughter, Anne Heather Meredith, who passed away in 2003.

Jack was a 1959 graduate of State College High School. He attended Penn State University and graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering. Jack moved to Pittsburgh to work before joining the United States Navy Reserves. In 1965, he began active duty, serving during the Vietnam War until 1969.

Jack worked for Penn State University Libraries for 35 years before his retirement on December 21, 2003. He also worked with his brother, Bud, as a Ticketing Supervisor for Penn State Athletics for many years. He was known for his meticulous recordkeeping and often worked from his car behind the Agricultural Arena during football games. Also he worked for winter events at Rec Hall.

Jack was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and Elks Lodge No. 1600. He was an avid golfer and golf fan. He golfed for Penn State University and was the club champion in the 1970s. He was a dedicated Penn State University Athletics fan and especially enjoyed following the football team.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College with Reverend Neil Dadey officiating.

Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
