John Teeter, Jr, 84, formerly of Pine Glen, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on January 23, 1930, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late John and Martha Replogle Teeter, Sr. On August 20, 1949, in Martinsburg, he married Esther M. Zook, who survives at their home in Pleasant Gap.

John was a 1948 graduate from Martinsburg High School. He was employed at the John E. Teeter Coal Company all his life. He started as a miner and then became President for the last 13 years of his career. He retired in 1983.

John was a member of the Community Alliance Church in Karthaus, where he was instrumental in the building of the Church. He was member of the Quehanna Lions Club for over 50 years. While in the Lions Club, he held the office of President for two terms. He was a board member of the church for many years.

John enjoyed family gatherings, hunting, gardening, being in the outdoors, watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers. He treasured the time he spent with his wife. John was a man of his word. If John said it, it was true. If John said he would do something, you could be sure it was done and done right.

John is survived by his wife, son; Donald L Teeter, Sr., and his wife, Carol, of Pine Glen, his daughter; Sharon L. Burns and her husband, Victor, of Clarence, and three sisters; Betty Zook and her husband, Ray, of Martinsburg, Audrey Querry of Martinsburg, and Carol Flamini and her husband, Dominic, of Moorestown, NJ. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren; Donald Teeter, Jr., Joy Teeter, Clifford Teeter, Clinton Teeter, Nicole Auman, William Burns, and John Burns, and six great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Teeter.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Community Alliance Church in Karthaus. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11am at the church with Pastor Dan Beeman, Pastor Hiram Westover, and Pastor Dave Gouak officiating. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery.
