A devoted and active member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Tusseyville, he was always available to do whatever needed to be done at the church. He took great pride in taking care of the church cemetery, and on many Saturday evenings, he could be found mowing and trimming, so the cemetery would look good for Sunday services at the church.
