Joseph John Kresovich, Jr, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed from this life on Friday, December 27, 2013 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was born on February 19, 1943, in Bellefonte, PA.
He was the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Pauline (Duke) Kresovich.

In 1968, he married Melissa Calhoun Kresovich, who survives at home.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his children, grandchildren, and his sister and their families: son, Joseph Kresovich III and his wife Teri Lucas Kresovich; daughters; Jessica Kresovich and Erica Kresovich-Rockey and her husband Jon Rockey. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Kresovich Ryan, her husband Ben Ryan and their children JB and Jennifer, and many more much loved cousins and relatives. Joe’s most prized possessions were his grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Kresovich, Brody king and unborn baby girl Kresovich-Rockey, whom he loved with all of his heart.

Joe was a 1961 graduate of Bellefonte Area high School where he was an outstanding athlete lettering in both football and baseball.

He was the first Centre County athlete ever to play in the Big 33 Hershey Classic as one of Pennsylvania’s top football players of the year in 1961. He was recruited at the time by University of Maryland Assistant Coach and now ESPN Analyst, Lee Corso. He accepted a full football scholarship and was voted one of the captains of the Terrapin Freshman football team. He was also a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity at the University of Maryland.

He was a member of the 112th Tactical Control Flight (TAC) in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. He was honorably discharged November 12, 1970.

He was a lifelong member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Bellefonte, PA.

He retired in 2008 from State Chemical Manufacturing Co. as a Sales and Marketing Representative.

He loved Penn State football and was a long-time season ticket holder. He and his son Joey enjoyed many exciting games together over the years. He also loved Penn State wrestling, hunting, and fishing. But what Joe enjoyed most was spending time with his family, and will be most remembered for his amazing love and devotion to his family.

Joe also leaves behind his beloved and dear friends of the “Coffee Club” and the Bellefonte Elks Club. He was truly blessed to have so many wonderful friends and cherished the time he spent with them.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014, from 6-8 pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte with a vigil for the deceased held at 7:45pm.
Funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014, at 10:00 am, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, with Father George Jakopac officiating.
Committal will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Bellefonte.
