Joseph Stephen Krisch, 87, of Milesburg passed from this life on May 21, 2016 at the Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born in Clarence, on March 29, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Surovey) Krisch.

Joe was a Korean War Veteran serving in the Army as a sergeant first class. He was a corrections officer at the State Correctional Institution at Rockview where he retired as a sergeant, on February 2, 1990, after thirty-three years of service.

Joe was an avid baseball player in his youth, playing for the American Legion Baseball League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports. His favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Nittany Lions. He actively followed Penn State Football recruiting.

He was a member of St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte, the Three Points Sportsman Club in Clarence, a sixty-plus year member of the American Legion Post 813 in Clarence where he was a member of the Honor Guard for many years. He was also a lifetime member of Wolf Run Stone Camp.

Joe is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Ann Kunes (Mike); one son, Joseph Michael Krisch (Karen) both of Bellefonte; his dear friend, Betty Creeger of Millheim; two sisters Mary Jane Panik of Detroit, MI and Elizabeth Schnars (John Diehl) of Boca Raton, FL; one step sister, Sister Martha of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan and Wyatt Kunes, and Kyle and Leah Krisch and a sister-in-law, Agnes Krisch.

In addition to his parents, he also is preceded in death by his step mother Anna (Baron) Krisch and two brothers Michael Krisch (Marion) and John Krisch.

Visitation will be held 6-8 PM, Monday, May 23, 2016 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike State College and from 9-10 AM , Tuesday, May 24, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. 134 E. Bishop St. Bellefonte, PA 16823. A funeral mass will follow at 10 AM with the Reverend Father George Jackpac officiating. Burial will follow in Centre County Memorial Park with military honors in accord.
