Born on August 1, 1937, in Clarence, he was the son of the late John & Catherine Schall Salvanish. On February 8, 1958, in Clarence, he married Constance J. “Connie” McGonigal who survives at home.

He was a life member of the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Clarence and was steadfast in his faith. Joe was a man with a generous heart and was always ready to help anyone in need. He loved the simple things in life, like fishing trips to Canada, windmills, country music, cooking, especially for his grandchildren, working in his yard and going out to eat with his wife. His favorite place to eat was KFC and would travel miles for a bucket of their chicken.
Joe loved his family, God, and his country. He was a man of many talents that could repair anything but unfortunately, he was unable to repair the disease that ravaged his brain. He fought a valiant fight and was very courageous in spite of all the odds against him. Now he is at peace with his Lord and Savior, and reunited with his precious daughter.
