Judith P. “Judy” Trostle, 77, of State College, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in State College.

Born on August 6, 1934 in Beverly, MA, she is a daughter of the late James E. and Hazel (Woodbury) Proctor.

On December 29, 1961 in Pitcairn, PA, she was married to Theodore C. “Ted” Trostle, who survives at home.

Judy was a 1952 graduate of Beverly High School and obtained her Associates Degree from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston.

She began her working career in different legal offices in the Boston Area. After that, she became a Secretary at the University of Wyoming and moved to the State College area becoming a Secretary at Penn State University. Following that, she was then employed as a Teacher’s aide in the State College Area School District, then was promoted to School District Registrar. She then retired in 1999.

Mrs. Trostle was a member of the Public School Employees Retirement Association and the IRV2 Mid Atlantic Campers. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, Big Ten basketball, and reading.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Karen S. Michel (David) of State College; a son, Harry “Chip” Trostle (Wendy) of Eldersburg, MD; two grandchildren, Amanda and Harrison Trostle; a foster granddaughter, Shambra Hamilton (Eric) and their children, Aislinn and Wyatt.

Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, April 27, 2012, at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012, beginning at 10 AM, at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, with the Reverend Chris Korn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Judy’s memory to the charity of ones choice.
