Judy Ann Fertig, 71, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Centre Crest Nursing Home. Born on September 14, 1946, in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Glenwood Leroy and Betty (Lipinski) Gillette of Clarence, PA and Winchester, VA respectively. Additionally, Judy was the step-daughter of the late Jane Gillette, also of Clarence, PA. She was married to her beloved husband, John Fertig, who preceded her in death.
Judy was a homemaker and was devoted to raising and taking care of her family.
Judy is survived by two sons, Vincent Mitchell and wife, Kelly, of Novato, CA and Anthony Mitchell of Honolulu, HI; and one grandson, Dylan. Also surviving are two brothers, Glenwood Lee Gillette and wife, Deirdra, of Stephens City, VA and Gary Lane Gillette and wife, Tammy, of New Bern, NC.
Judy loved books and listening to country music. She lived her life revolving around her sons. During her last seven years living at Centre Crest Nursing Home, she created many friendships with the staff. The family would like to extend a special thanks for the care that Judy received while under their care.
A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Judy’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105.
