Obituary of Kathryn Elizabeth Grieb, 85

Kathryn Elizabeth Grieb, 85, of Julian, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born March 21, 1924, in Drifting, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna K. Rusnak Zezoney. She married Charles R. Grieb, who preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2004. They had been married for more than 57 years. She was a food manager at Penn State. She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sebastian, Fla. and formerly a member of St. Severin Roman Catholic Church in Drifting.

She is survived by a daughter, Gail Spotts and her husband, Gregory, of Julian; two sons, James R. Grieb and his wife, Jerrie, of Julian, and Charles G. Grieb and his wife, Anne, of Grass Lake, Mich.: 10 grandchildren, James Grieb, of Julian, Julie Johnson, of Milesburg, LeeAnn McKeon, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Richard Grieb, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Christopher Grieb, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Andrea Grieb, of the Netherlands, Sarah Grieb, of New York City, Bryant Grieb, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Chad Spotts, of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Darren Spotts, of Julian; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonita Hendrickson; a granddaughter, Hope Spotts; four sisters; and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at St. Severin Roman Catholic Church, Drifting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at the church, with the Rev. David Perry as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Severin Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in Drifting. Cremains of her husband, Charles R. Grieb, will be buried in St. Severin Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in Drifting, at the same time, with full military honors accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Grassflat.
