Kenneth C. “Pap” Stine, 93 of Howard, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017. He was born on June 25, 1924 in Tyrone, Pa. He was the son of the late George Guyer & Anna Smith Stine.

Ken married Julia May Birden in Frankfurt, Ind. on June 17, 1950, she preceded him in death on January 7, 2009.

He was a miner for several limestone plants in the area. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jacksonville. He was the past president of the consistory and curently served on the church board. He was also a member of the Howard Area Lions Club for over 31 years, where he served as past president and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, he was instrumental in building the club's food trailer and spent much time serving in the food trailer.

He enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Filmore Hunting Club.

Kenneth is survived by four sons; James C. (Sallie) of Jacksonville, Rodney U. (Melissa) and Douglas A. (Gloria) both of Bellefonte, and Richard G. (Jane) of Howard, two sisters; Dorothy Brown of Virginia, Mary Leap of Lewistown, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a son; Timothy Lee Stine in 1977 and also three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Howard with Pastor Cindy Killinger officiating. Friends and family will be received from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Jacksonville Cemetery with Military RItes.
