Kenneth I. Greene, Sr., 95, of Coleville, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at his home. Born on December 22, 1919 in Coleville, he was the son of the late Edward John and Verna (Busch) Greene. On October 25, 1940 he married Mary Louise (Grove) Greene, who survives at home.

He attended the Bellefonte School System. Kenneth worked at Cerro Copper and Brass as an Extrusion Press Operator. He drove school bus for Bellefonte School System for over 30 years. He served as a private first class for the United States Army. He served in the China-Berma-India war. For his service he received the Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with 2 bronze stars.

Kenneth was known by many as “Pappy Ken” he was also known around town as a wood worker and his specialty was making wooden crates. He enjoyed picking raspberries. He attended Coleville Wesleyan Church. Kenneth was a life member of the Logan Fire Company, 46 year member of Logan Ambulance Service and Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters; Cheryl Greene Spotts (Kermit) of Bellefonte, Lola Greene Thompson (Jeff) of Bellefonte, Holly Greene Keen (Bruce) of Bellefonte, two sons; Kenneth Greene Jr. (Donna) of Dickson, TN, Randy Greene (Debra) of Bellefonte, by twelve grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and one grandson, he was preceded by all his brothers and sisters. He is the last of his generation.

There will be a public visitation held on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 6-8pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. 206 N. Spring Street Bellefonte.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10:00am at the funeral home with Reverend Ronald Murphy officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be held at Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Logan Fire Company at 120 E. Howard Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
