Elwood “Woody” Breon went to Heaven from Centre Crest on August 14, 2018. He was born in Bellefonte on May 20, 1921 to Leonard A. and Helen (Sliker) Breon.

He graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1938 and took extension courses at Penn State in welding.

During World War II, he served overseas in the United States Army Corps of Engineering as a welder from September 5, 1942 to December 3, 1945, attaining the rank of sergeant.

In October 1951, he married Virginia I. Bailey who preceded him in death on April 15, 1994. On June 22, 1996, he married Alice M. Worthen who survives.

He is survived by sons, Roy E. Breon (Sandy), Zion, L. Alva Breon, Pleasant Gap, Mark A. Breon (Jean), Pleasant Gap, and Andrew Breon (Alice), Centre Hall, and daughter Marilyn Davidson (Douglas), Downington.

Also surviving are step-sons, Byron S. Worthen, Mechanicsburg, Kenneth G. Worthen (Betsy), Holland, PA., and step-daughter, Barbara Costik (Richard), Hummelstown. Woody is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, sister, Eloise Hoover, niece, Cathi Houser, nephew, Tom Hoover, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Warren Breon, of Bellefonte, Warren’s wife, Julia, and brother-in-law, Rufus Hoover.

From 1947 to 1955, he owned and operated an Indian Motorcycle shop in Axemann. From 1955 to 1968 he owned and operated Breon’s Electric Motor Sales. From 1968 to 2001 the shop was renamed Breon’s and Sons and from 2001 to the present time it became Breon’s, Inc., located in Pleasant Gap, specializing in sales and service of electric motors, power generators, and machine shop.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bellefonte from his teenage years until 2004, when he transferred to St. John’s United Church of Christ in Boalsburg.

He belonged to Centre Squares, Central Pennsylvania Ballroom Dancers, and Town and Gown ballroom group.

Woody enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, square dancing and ballroom dancing. He also enjoyed traveling around the country with Alice, going to Sight and Sound productions in Lancaster, and the shows in Branson, MO.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 6-7:30pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:30am at St. John’s United Church of Christ at 218 N. Church Street, Boalsburg with the Rev. Dr. Monica Ouellette officiating. Burial will immediate follow at Union Cemetery in Bellefonte.
