Larry A. Packer Sr., 58, of rural Bellefonte, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

He was born July 3, 1952, in Lock Haven, a son of the late Myrle K. and Mary E. Muirhead Packer Sr. On Dec. 3, 1972, he married Annie M. Yoder, who survives at home. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1972. Mr. Packer was an assistant press operator at Corning. He was of the Protestant faith. Larry loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed NASCAR, and riding his Harley-Davidson. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael J. (Carrie) Packer, of Bellefonte and Joseph G. (Holly) Packer, of Port Matilda; a daughter, Rachel J. Irwin, of Bellefonte; two brothers, Dannie (Sandy) Packer, of Bellefonte and Marvin Packer, of State College; two sisters, Mary (Paul) Glunt, of rural Howard and Gayle (Bob) Lewis, of Howard; and a sister-in-law, Carol Packer. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Michael Irwin and Alec Irwin, Breanna Packer, Alyssa Packer, Isaac Packer and Hannah Packer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry A. Packer Jr.; and a brother, Myrle K. Packer Jr.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St. in Milesburg. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Alex Dyakiw officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
