Larry D. Brungart, 69, of Bellefonte, entered his heavenly home Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at Hershey Medical Center.
Born Sept. 18, 1940, in Rebersburg, he was a son of the late Kenneth Truman Brungart and Irene Hazel Stover Brungart. On Sept. 1, 1967, he married Shirley Korman, who survives him at home. He was a graduate of Penns Valley High School. He served in the US Air Force. He was employed by HRI, Inc. for 43 years, retiring as a superintendent of construction.
Upon retirement he enjoyed working with his brother-in-law Don Dunkle on his farms. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hublersburg. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed reading and gardening, loved hunting, farming, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Shirley was the love of his life. His granddaughters were the joy of his life.
Larry is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia and her husband Darin Gleason, of Chicago and Katrina "Kati" Brungart, of Bellefonte; three grandchildren, Emma Kay, Avery and Paige Gleason; two sisters, Phyllis Walker, of Colorado, Leona Sue (Barry) Myers, of Spring Mills; two brothers Byron (Jeanne) Brungart, of Lewisburg and Terry (Joann) Brungart, of Livonia; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Van Horn.
A memorial service will be Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 355 Hublersburg Rd, Bellefonte PA, with Pastor Jeff Munnis officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Larry's memory to the LDB Fund, c/o Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte Pa 16823, for a community gift to be given at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., Bellefonte.
