Obituary of Larry G. Rupert , 66

Larry G. Rupert, 66, of Beech Creek, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 at Bon Secours Hospital, Altoona. He was born Dec. 7, 1942, in Beech Creek, a son of the late Glenn and Dorothy Bitner Rupert. On May 17, 1962, he married Della A. "Dolly" Fravel, who survives at home. He was a graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School. Larry was an electrician with Corning for 35 years, known by his peers as "Moon", retiring in 2000. He served on the Beech Creek Little League for 25 years and was past president. He served on the Beech Creek Water & Sewer Authority since 1977 and was present chairman. Larry started the "Coffee Club" held at the Beech Creek Community Center, where he cooked and entertained the locals six days a week for donations only to help the center. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jamie and Dave Orr, of Beech Creek, and Dawn and Scott Bechdel, of Blanchard; one son, Todd R., of Beech Creek; seven grandchildren, Todd, Jr. and Troy Rupert, Jared and Megan Orr, Josh, Larry, and Caitlin Bechdel; and one great-grandson, Kason Levi Rupert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Samuel Rupert. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard, with Pastor Stan D. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Schenck's Cemetery, Howard Township. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at the funeral home.
