Obituary of Lawrence Buriss, 89

Lawrence Burris, 89, of Bellefonte, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at Greenhills Village in State College. Born on July 14, 1927, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Samuel U. and Alma F. (Horner) Burris, and step mother, Minnie V. (Shank) Burris. On March 19, 1948, he married Mary O. (Plozner) Burris. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2005.

He worked for over 24 years at Penn State University as a farm machine operator. He was a member of North American Hunting Club.

Lawrence is survived by one son, P. Gary Burris (Jackie Brooks) of Pine Grove Mills, one daughter, Beverly B. Davidson (Patrick) of Bellefonte, four grandchildren; Douglas W. Wagner (Renee) of Mill Hall, Karen L. Royer (Robert) of Warriors Mark, Kristina A. Woodward (Joseph) of Bellefonte, Amy Wilson (Ed) of State College, and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Lawrence Burris, Jr., five brothers and eight sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Greenhills Village and 365 Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion for Lawrence during his residence.
