Lawrence Jerome Wolfe (Wolfie), 101, of Coburn, departed this life Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Mount Nittany Medical Center at State College.

He entered this life on August 20, 1914; a son of the late Clayton and Edith (Steiger) Wolfe.

On April 6, 1945 he married his sweetheart Hester Hannah Wingard who survives at home.

Mr. Wolfe served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and joined the U. S. Army in 1941. He was stationed at Honolulu, Hawaii and was a witness to the bombing at Pearl Harbor. He then served in the Pacific Theatre until the end of the war. During his time in the service he earned an American Defense Medal with one star, an Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

During his life he owned and operated a garage and worked at Cerro (aka Titan Metals) until his retirement in 1976.

Wolfie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.

Surviving in addition to his wife; are two daughters, Rosemary Shearer (Charles) and Devra Wolfe; and his Red Lobster buddy and friend Ed Shaffer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood and Kermit.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 am Monday, November 23, 2015 at Penns Valley God’s Missionary Church, 109 Evergreen Lane, Route 45, Spring Mills. The funeral will follow immediately at 11:30 at the church with the Reverend Andrew Cooley officiating. Burial with Military Honors provided by the Millheim American Legion Keystone Post 444, will be at Fairview Cemetery in Millheim.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Penns Valley God’s Missionary Church, 109 Evergreen Lane, Spring Mills, PA 16875.
