Obituary of Leo E. Harter, 74

Leo E. Harter, 74, of Loganton, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born on March 30, 1939 in Smullton, Leo was a son of the late Gilbert L. and Mildred L. Confer Harter. He was a graduate of Penns Valley High School. On December 24, 1958, Leo married Margaret M. Tice who preceded him in death. Leo served his country in the Air National Guard. He was a member of the Sugar Valley Fire Company and worked with the Fire Police for many years.

Leo is survived by one brother, Dennis L. Harter (Carol) of Rebersburg; two grandchildren, Danielle Shay (Paul) of Milesburg and Julie Shay of Madisonburg; and one great granddaughter, Abrielle Berenbrok. Also surviving is one son-in-law, Gary Shay of Madisonburg; one niece, Laurie Balsley and one nephew, Douglas Harter.

In accordance with Leo's wishes, he will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Loganton during a private service. Contributions in memory of Leo may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
