Obituary of Leona Benko

Leona Benko, 88, of Bellefonte, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017. Born in Trotter PA, to George and Mary Benko, Leona spent most of her life as a Fayette County resident and was a 1946 graduate of North Union Township High School. She was an active member of Central Christian Church.

Leona was a loving mother to her son, Cary Kurtz his partner Melissa Hershey and her grandchildren Amanda, Alex, and Adam Kurtz.

She was predeceased by her siblings, John Benko, Mary Ratai, Helen Zoltun, Sue Dulick, Margaret Kaiser, Pauline Childs, and Olga Galioto.

Known as “Aunt Lee” by her numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews, she will be remembered for her generous spirit and loving nature.

A family memorial luncheon will be held in the near future.
