Obituary of Leroy Boone, 85

Leroy C. Boone, 85 of Howard, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Lock Haven Hospital. He was born in Howard on April 21, 1927, the son of the late Frank & Pauline Confer Boone.

He is survived by his wife Catherine Yeager, whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage on June 15, 2012. She survives at home.

Leroy was a corrections officer at the State Correctional Facility at Rockview for 21 years retiring in 1990. He was a devoted employee of the Kader-Neff Funeral Home for many years. He attended the Beech Creek Wesleyan Church.

He was a member of the Bellefonte Lodge No. 268, Free & Accepted Masons. He was a past member of the Howard Fire Co. Lee enjoyed jumping in his truck and taking drives throughout the area. Above all he loved his family and spending time with them.

Leroy is survived along with his wife two sons; Stewart of Marsh Creek, and Wayne and wife Karen of Mill Hall. two sisters; Rhoda and husband Jim Miller of Marsh Creek and Ruth and husband Dale Miller also of Marsh Creek, two brothers; James and wife Loretta and Donald all of Marsh Creek, four grandchildren; Melissa, Christopher, Kyle and Zach Boone.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard with the Rev Alan S. Eckenroad officiating. There will be a public visitation Monday, August 27, 2012 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic service at 8:00 p.m. following the visitation. Burial will be in the Summit Hill Cemetery.
