Leroy H. Harshbarger, 71, of Mount Wolf, died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his residence.
He was born March 1, 1947 in Lewistown, PA the son of the late Howard E. Harshbarger and Helen (Peck) Harshbarger Decker.
On March 27, 1967 he married Barbara Bahner, who preceded him in death on November 1, 2015.
Leroy was an exceptionally devoted, caring and giving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He retired from CAT, then opened Leroy Harshbarger Home Repairs and Finishing. He always worked hard to make Barbara her pennies. His heart was truly pure as gold, he was loved by all and was known for taking care of the homeless and the elderly. Pap was always there for everyone; family, friends. He was the strength of his family – he was the guy who made everything happen. He was a teacher, a mentor and a donator.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl and Christina Harshbarger both of Mt. Wolf; four grandchildren, Justin Garman, Jeremy Garman, Kaydi Muth and Alexis Dean; eight great grandchildren, Liberty, Ryleigh, Noah, Kaylee, Hunter, Logan, Baily and Liam; one sister, Barbara Hawks and his treasured dog Susie Q, who was his shoulder in life after Barbara’s death.
In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by a bother and a sister.
Honoring his wishes the family is requesting that no flowers be sent; but instead that memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Memorial White Rose Home Health and Hospice, 1412 6th Avenue, York, PA 17403.
Also following his wishes, there will not be a public visitation or memorial service. His marked grave is in Tri County Gardens.
