Lester E. Pellman, 74, of Mifflintown, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at his residence after a courageous battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Born on December 12, 1938 in Richfield, he is a son of the late Wilbur S. and Dorothy (Davis) Pellman.

On May 29, 1954 in Bunkertown, he was married to Phyllis M. (Shellenberger) Pellman, who survives at home.

Mr. Pellman started his working career under his father at W.S. Pellman Hatchery in Richfield. He then was employed by C.D. Zimmerman Trucking in Mifflintown where he was involved in over the road transportation. Next, he was employed as a Crane Operator and retired as a Work Leader for Standard Steel in Burnham. After his retirement from Standard Steel, Lester was a loyal driver at Regester Chevrolet in Thompsontown where he retired a second time.

Lester was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 925. He also was a member and attended St. John’s United Methodist Church in Cocalamus.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and Penn State football, but most of all, he cherished and loved the time spent with family and friends – To him, it just didn’t get any better than that.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Deborah K. Neikirk of Lititz; three sons, Gregory E. Pellman and his wife Twyla of McClure, Robert C. Pellman and his wife Jill of Oakland Mills, and Anthony L. “Tony” Pellman and his wife Teresa of McClure; one brother, Raymond Pellman and his wife Clarice of McAlisterville; ten grandchildren, Jeffrey D. Neikirk and his wife Sue, Jennifer E. Neikirk, Trevor E. Pellman, Ryan C. Pellman, Tiffany D. Pellman, Zachary D. Pellman, Garett W. Pellman, Seth W. Pellman, Jaylinn M. Pellman, and Bryce G. Pellman; and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine Pellman Kratzer.

Friends will be received from 5 – 9 PM with the family present at 6 PM on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.

Funeral Services will be held from St. John's United Methodist Church, 144 Red Bank Road, McAlisterville on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, beginning at 10:30 AM with Pastor Candace Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at Richfield Union Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions in Lester’s memory may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, c/o Vera Sierer, Treasurer, 144 Red Bank Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
