Linda Schnelle Foster, 67, of State College, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born May 31, 1945, in Hackensack, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Fred Anthony and Janice Friend Schnelle.

On June 19, 1971, she married Steve Foster, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Cathy Gwilliam and her husband, Brian, of Tavernier, FL and Julie Foster of Austin, TX; one sister, Cathy Remington of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sister-in-laws, Doris Croskey and her husband, Charles, of State College and Karen Maters and her husband, Hans, of Liberty, SC; four grandchildren, Joey, Sydney, Caylyn and Samantha; and nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ricky Schnelle. She was a 1963 graduate of Haddonfield High School, NJ. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Elizabethtown College in 1967. In 1976 she graduated from Penn State University with a Master’s degree in Reading Education. Linda retired in 2007 from the State College Area School District where she taught remedial reading. Prior to teaching at State College, she spent four years teaching at Gibbsboro School District, Gibbsboro, NJ. From 1971-1980, she taught at Wingate Elementary School, Bald Eagle Area School District. She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, State College. Linda enjoyed her family, traveling, skiing and bridge.

A visitation will be 6 until 8 p.m., on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. A memorial service will be 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Summer Reading Program, Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 S. Allen St. State College, PA 16801 or First Church of Christ, Scientist, 617 E. Hamilton Ave. State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
