Lloyd Waltz, 88, of Pleasant Gap, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Born on October 9, 1929 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late John and Ethel (Gunsallus) Waltz. He was married to his beloved wife, Sara (Bathurst) Waltz, who preceded him in death on August 23, 2009.
Lloyd was a graduate of Hublersburg High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War and in addition to his service medal, he earned two bronze stars, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He worked at Cerro Copper and Brass in the set up trim department until retiring in 1993.
He is survived by one son, Thomas (Dolores) Waltz of Bellefonte, and one daughter, Rebecca (Albert) Moore of Pleasant Gap; three grandchildren, Keri (Michael) Laird, Terry Snare “T.J.” Jr., and David “Bo” (Tara) Waltz; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Ruth Haagen, and two brothers, Carl (Ann) Waltz, and Robert Waltz.
Lloyd was a life member of Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church. He was also a life member of the Pleasant Gap American Legion as well as the Pleasant Gap Fire Company.
The family would like to especially thank 365 Hospice for the care and compassion that they have shown to Lloyd.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 1-2pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2pm with Pastor Crystal Baumgardner officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
