Obituary of Lodie H. Vonada, 96

Lodie H. Vonada, 96, formerly of Aaronsburg, entered into eternal rest on March 1, 2010, at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte.

Lodie, daughter of the late Floyd and Meda Greninger Guisewite was born on Aug. 18, 1913, in Woodward. On Jan. 31, 1931, Lodie married Seamore I. Vonada. Mr. Vonada preceded Lodie in death on April 28, 1987. Lodie was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Woodward where she had served as Communion Steward. She was formerly employed at Millheim Manufacturing. Lodie was last employed at Gettig Pharmaceutical in Spring Mills, retiring with 10 years of service. Lodie enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, lawn work and especially sitting on the porch.

Lodie is survived by two sons; Russell L. (June) Vonada, of Woodward and Glenn E. (Florence) Vonada, of Rebersburg; and one brother, Lester Guisewite, of Rebersburg. Also surviving are three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Lodie was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Jodon, of Boalsburg.

A memorial service will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Woodward on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Cass Harbach officiating.

It was Lodie's wishes that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory be given to the Trinity UMC of Woodward, c/o Julie Shaffer or Salem Hill Haven, 424 Heckman Cemetery Rd, Spring Mills, Pa 16875. The Steven R. Neff Funeral Home of Millheim assisted the family with the arrangements.
